Five Injured in Weekend Shootings Across Chicago

LONDON (CBS) — Five individuals have been injured in separate shooting incidents across Chicago over the weekend, with victims ranging in age from 19 to 29.

Weekend shootings, as defined by CBS Chicago, occurred between 5 p.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Monday.

Friday

  • On Friday at 7:20 p.m., a 21-year-old man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the foot. The victim, in good condition, was unable to provide details about the incident. The location of the shooting remains unknown.

  • Later that night at 10:47 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Trumbull, a 23-year-old man was shot in the chest while standing outside. The victim, listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, could not provide further information about the shooting.

Saturday

  • At 6:13 p.m. on Saturday in the 11400 block of South Morgan, a 29-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. Details about the incident are currently unavailable.
  • In the 1400 block of South Ashland at 6:32 p.m. on Saturday, a 19-year-old man was shot in the stomach. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
  • At the same time in the 1900 block of West Hastings, a 21-year-old man, identified as Damian Gomez, was shot in the chest and shoulder during an altercation with another individual. Gomez was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

Sunday

  • At 12:20 a.m. in the 100 block of East 118th Place, a 19-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were found inside a residence with gunshot wounds. The man reported that they were targeted by a known male assailant who fled the scene. The woman was in fair condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center, while the man was in good condition at Christ Hospital.
  • At 2:50 a.m. in the 2600 block of West LeMoyne, a 38-year-old man was shot in the chest while traveling in a vehicle. He informed the police that the shooter was also in a moving vehicle. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
