Discovery of Suspicious Activity

Just before 11:30 p.m., Delaware State Police received a report of two individuals dressed in all black trying to break into vehicles in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers came across a Kia Sorento with a shattered window parked on Winding Carriage Lane.

Uncovering the Crime

Investigations revealed that the rear window of the Kia had been shattered, and the ignition was tampered with – a common method used in the recent spate of Kia thefts involving a screwdriver and USB cable. This discovery confirmed the suspicions of the troopers.

Chase and Arrest

As the troopers scouted the vicinity, they spotted two figures in all black walking down Colt Lane and Peacock Place. Upon approaching the individuals, they attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued, and despite orders to stop, the suspects continued to evade the authorities.

The 13-year-old suspect eventually surrendered and was apprehended without further incident. Shortly after, the 14-year-old accomplice was caught running on Station View Drive and was taken into custody.

They were later released into the custody of their parents.

This swift action by the Delaware State Police serves as a reminder that criminal activities will not go unpunished, especially in the peaceful neighbourhoods of Dover. The community can rest assured that law enforcement is vigilant and ready to protect their safety and property.
