Two Israelis Killed, Four Wounded in Terror Attack at Re’em Junction

(THE TIMES OF ISRAEL) Two Israelis tragically lost their lives, and four others were injured, two of them critically, in a heinous shooting attack at Re’em Junction in southern Israel on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred just north of Kiryat Malachi at around 12:30 p.m., leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.

The assailant, identified as Fadi Jamjoum, 37, hailing from East Jerusalem’s Shuafat, arrived at the junction in a vehicle and opened fire on innocent civilians waiting at a bus station with a handgun. The swift response of an off-duty IDF reservist officer on the scene resulted in the neutralization of the terrorist, who was later pronounced dead.

Law enforcement officials, in a bid to ensure no other perpetrators were involved, conducted extensive searches at the scene, although initial assessments pointed towards a lone attacker. The Magen David Adom ambulance service swiftly arrived at the scene and treated six individuals, including a man in his 20s who tragically succumbed to his injuries at Rehovot’s Kaplan Medical Center.

The casualties included three individuals in serious condition, with one more fatality reported at Kaplan. Among the victims was Yishai Gertner, 23, from Modiin Illit. Additionally, two other individuals, one of whom was a 65-year-old woman, sustained moderate injuries and were receiving medical attention.
