Altoona Man Arrested for DUI After Traffic Stop

Logan Township Police in Altoona conducted a routine traffic stop on Lakeside Drive at 11:30 a.m. on May 29, 2023. The driver, identified as William Rabenstein, a 65-year-old resident of Altoona, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Following further investigation, officers received the results of his blood alcohol content and charged him with DUI.

Recent Criminal Incidents in the Area

State Police at Huntingdon responded to a call at Sheetz along William Penn Highway in Smithfield Township on Feb. 8 at 4:21 a.m. The officers discovered an abandoned vehicle, which had been reported stolen by Troy Porter, a 37-year-old from Bristol. Porter had attempted to drive the vehicle but abandoned it shortly after due to his inability to operate a manual transmission. He was subsequently charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

Another incident occurred on Jan. 29, 2024, when State Police at Hollidaysburg were called to East Pleasant Valley Boulevard in Antis Township at 4:35 p.m. A motor vehicle accident involving Damion G. Confer, a 27-year-old from Julian, resulted in the vehicle veering off the road, striking a utility pole, and overturning multiple times in a field. Both Confer and his passenger sustained suspected injuries.

Furthermore, on Feb. 5, 2024, State Police at Hollidaysburg responded to reports of suspicious activity in the area of Reservoir Road and Locke Mountain Road in Frankstown at 7:50 p.m. Thomas Williams, a 20-year-old from Altoona, was found in a parked vehicle with drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. Williams was charged with possession of illegal substances.
