Stolen Car Chase Leads to Arrest of School Employee with Guns and Drugs in Nashville

In a dramatic turn of events, members of the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) successfully apprehended three individuals, including a local school employee, after a high-speed chase involving a stolen car. The suspects were found to be in possession of firearms and drugs.

Confirming the involvement of one of its employees, Sean Braisted, the public information officer for Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), stated that 23-year-old Special Tatyana Osborne worked as an exceptional education para-professional at Rosebank Elementary since July 2018.

The incident unfolded on Thursday, February 15, when Violent Crimes detectives from the MNPD spotted a stolen Dodge Charger with a mismatched temporary license plate in the Madison area.

Following the stolen car, the police observed as Osborne and the driver of the Dodge, identified as 23-year-old Freddie Calbert, transferred to a Chrysler 300 driven by 29-year-old Maurice Calbert. In an attempt to evade the authorities, the Chrysler sped off, initiating the pursuit.

During the chase, the MNPD helicopter crew noticed the passengers throwing items, including a pound of marijuana, out of the Chrysler’s windows.

The pursuit eventually led the suspects onto Monticello Court, a dead end. Freddie Calbert attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the police. Meanwhile, Maurice Calbert and Osborne were arrested without incident. Notably, a toddler was also present in the Chrysler at the time of the arrest.

Local resident Kenneth McMillan, who happened to be returning home at that moment, described the scene as the Chrysler abruptly pulled up behind him, with a group of officers in pursuit. McMillan expressed his initial fear of a shootout but soon realized that the police were after the suspects, not him.

After a brief period of confusion, the authorities reassured McMillan and ensured his safety. The police officers took the time to check on him and his children, offering explanations and apologies for the distress caused.

Witnesses in the area likened the scene to a war zone, with numerous police vehicles and a tense atmosphere. The discovery of two firearms, a Glock pistol in the driver’s floorboard and a Sig P365 in Osborne’s purse, further heightened the seriousness of the situation. Additionally, law enforcement found multiple bags of marijuana along the Chrysler’s path.

The MNPD has charged Osborne with felony weapon possession, possession of marijuana, and joyriding. Maurice Calbert faces charges of felony weapon possession, possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment, and evading arrest. Freddie Calbert has been charged with felony weapon possession, possession of marijuana, vehicle theft, and evading arrest.

Surprisingly, on February 16, it was announced that all three suspects had been released on bail, with bonds ranging from $12,000 to $22,500. However, MNPS has stated that Osborne will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal justice process.
