Kansas City, MO – In a tragic incident following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, false information regarding the identification of the shooters has been spreading on social media. One claim falsely identified a 44-year-old migrant named Sahil Omar as one of the shooters at the parade. However, the facts reveal a different story.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, three juveniles were detained in connection with the shooting that occurred at the conclusion of the parade festivities outside historic Union Station. Later, one of the juveniles was released. The name Sahil Omar, along with the same description, has been previously used on social media to make similar erroneous claims in connection with a January explosion in Fort Worth, Texas, and a December shooting in Las Vegas.
