Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Uttarakhand Police made a shocking revelation on Thursday, disclosing that a 25-year-old man, initially believed to be a victim of the Haldwani riots on February 8, was actually murdered by a police constable.

According to a report in TOI, the victim, identified as Prakash Kumar from Sinha village in Barhara block of Bhojpur district in Bihar, was allegedly killed by Constable Birendra Singh. The motive behind the murder was reportedly Kumar’s involvement in an extramarital affair with Singh’s wife, leading to blackmail using an “intimate video” they had recorded together.
Nainital SSP Prahlad Meena revealed that Singh, along with four accomplices including his wife and brother-in-law, conspired to carry out Kumar’s murder. The plot was uncovered through an examination of Kumar’s phone records, which were found on his body during the investigation.
The communication history on Kumar’s phone showed frequent interactions with a person from Sitarganj in Udham Singh Nagar district. This person was identified as Singh’s brother-in-law, Suraj Bain, who confessed to being friends with Kumar for over two years.
Upon discovering the compromising video involving his wife Priyanka and Kumar, Singh instructed Priyanka to lure Kumar to Haldwani on February 8. When Kumar arrived, Singh confronted him about the video, ultimately leading to Kumar’s murder as part of a premeditated plan involving Priyanka, Bain, and two others named Prem Singh and Naim Khan.

Singh disposed of Kumar’s body in the Banphoolpura area to make it appear as if it was a casualty of the ongoing violence in Haldwani. The death toll in the violence has now risen to five following this revelation.
Priyanka is currently on the run, evading capture. All the accused individuals, including Singh, face charges of murder under IPC Section 302, as confirmed by Nainital SSP Meena.
The riots in Haldwani erupted after the demolition of an “illegally built” madrassa, resulting in at least 100 people sustaining injuries and 30 arrests made in connection with the unrest. The investigation into Kumar’s murder continues as the shocking details of the case unfold..
