Neighbour Arrested for Murder and Disposal of Body in Drain in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh

In a shocking incident, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the killing and disposal of his neighbour’s body in a drain in Hardoi. The victim, identified as Mohd Saif (20) from Bareilly, had been reported missing since Feb 11. Gaurav Singh, the CO of Farikpur (Bareilly), stated, “Saif’s body was found following information provided by the accused, Mohd Tasleem, who was at a brick kiln in Hardoi and was Saif’s neighbour.”

Although the exact cause of death is unknown, initial findings suggest that the victim was fatally shot, possibly due to a monetary dispute.

Family Alleges Lack of Police Cooperation

Jafra B, the victim’s mother, alleged, “Police didn’t cooperate with us. I had made three complaints after my son went missing. It’s yet unknown why the accused, Mohd Tasleem, shot my son dead.” She added, “The accused sought a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, which we could not pay.”

CO Singh mentioned, “The accused used a country-made pistol in the crime and made ransom demands of Rs 10 lakhs to Saif’s mother. The accused had a plan that he would leave the state after getting ransom.” He further added, “It is strange that Tasleem killed the victim before seeking ransom. We’re trying to ascertain the motive behind this move.”

Legal Action and Investigations

An FIR has been filed under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the IPC. Tasleem has been taken into custody by Bareilly police for further questioning while the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death, CO Singh further stated.
