New Delhi: Man Arrested for Hoax Bomb Threat at IGI Airport

Delhi Police have apprehended a 38-year-old man from Bihar for allegedly making a hoax call last month threatening to blast the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The accused, Krishno Mahto, a resident of West Champaran, Bihar, made the call under the influence of alcohol, according to police officials.

The incident took place on January 28 when a call was received at the IGI Airport police station at 5:11 p.m. The caller threatened to detonate a bomb at the airport, prompting authorities to declare a full emergency and put the airport on high alert.

DCP Usha Rangnani stated that all necessary protocols were followed to ensure the safety of passengers and after a thorough search, it was determined that the bomb threat was a false alarm.

Following a probe, the police traced the hoax caller to Mahto’s mobile number, which was registered in his name. Raids were conducted at his village in Bihar, but he was not found there. It was later discovered that Mahto was working as a labourer in Delhi.

After collecting intelligence, Mahto was apprehended from one of his hideouts in Kapashera, Delhi. During interrogation, he admitted to making the hoax call while inebriated and not in a rational state of mind.

The hoax bomb threat at the IGI Airport in Delhi has led to the arrest of Krishno Mahto, a 38-year-old man from West Champaran, Bihar. The call, made under the influence of alcohol, caused a full emergency to be declared at the airport.

Police Investigation Uncovers Hoax Bomb Caller

DCP Usha Rangnani confirmed that after thorough investigation, the police were able to trace the hoax bomb call to Mahto’s mobile number. Raids were conducted at his village in Bihar, but he was later found in Delhi, where he was working as a labourer.

Apprehension of Hoax Caller

Mahto was eventually apprehended from one of his hideouts in Kapashera, Delhi. During questioning, he confessed to making the hoax call while under the influence of alcohol and not in a sound state of mind.
