A man from Milwaukee has been accused of assaulting a woman and subsequently firing gunshots at a man near a school on Saturday, February 10th.

Keith Williams, a 39-year-old resident of Milwaukee, is facing charges for the domestic violence incident, including two misdemeanors for the assault on the woman, and three felonies in relation to the gunshots fired near Lancaster Public School in the city’s north side.

Details of the Domestic Violence Incident

According to a criminal complaint, law enforcement officers were called to a residence near 66th and Hampton at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 10th. The female victim reported that her boyfriend, identified as Keith Williams, had physically assaulted her following an argument. She also mentioned that prior to returning home that evening, Williams had made threats to crash his SUV into a tree.

Upon their arrival home, the victim informed investigators that Williams struck her in the face as she attempted to call the police. Another altercation ensued inside the SUV before Williams drove off. The victim sustained a cut below her eye and had blood on her face, as noted by the responding officers.

Incident of Gunfire

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, February 11th, law enforcement received reports of gunshots in the same vicinity. A 26-year-old male disclosed that he had suffered a graze wound on his right knee. He explained that the altercation had stemmed from a conflict between his mother and Williams. Upon learning of the argument, the man left the residence and encountered Williams driving towards him in his SUV. Williams then fired two shots in his direction before fleeing the scene. Although uncertain if he had been hit, the man noticed a hole in his pants and a minor cut on his leg post the incident.

An eyewitness corroborated the account, stating that they observed Williams’ SUV slowly approaching the man before firing shots following a verbal exchange. The victim of the initial altercation also reported hearing the gunshots. A single bullet casing was discovered on the street where the shots were discharged.

Arrest of Keith Williams

At approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, law enforcement officers revisited the residence near 66th and Hampton. Upon locating the suspect’s SUV parked outside, they requested entry into the property. Williams was found hiding under a pile of clothes inside the house and subsequently apprehended.

During a police interview, Williams admitted to assaulting the woman and firing shots at the 26-year-old man from his SUV. He claimed to have acted out of fear of being attacked by the man and confessed to disposing of the firearm near 38th and North following the incident.

Keith Williams now faces charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, discharging a firearm in a school zone, battery (domestic abuse), and two counts of disorderly conduct (domestic abuse). His cash bond was set at £5,000 during his initial court appearance on Thursday, February 15th.
