Trooper’s Encounter with the Stolen Truck

According to an arrest report, the trooper noticed a white lawn truck driving without tail lights, prompting him to initiate a traffic stop. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the vehicle aggressively switched lanes and started swerving erratically, narrowly missing other vehicles on the road.

As the chaos unfolded, the stolen truck “slightly” struck the trooper’s patrol car, setting off a chain of events that would lead to a dramatic chase through the streets of Orange County.

The Chase and Capture of the Suspect

Despite the trooper’s attempts to stop the truck, the driver, later identified as Kais Kaheel, 28, from New Port Richey, continued to evade law enforcement. The stolen truck collided with several cars along the roadway before crashing through a chain link fence and into a brick wall on an abandoned property near Interstate 4.

Undeterred, Kaheel fled the scene on foot, but was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers. Upon searching the truck, officers discovered a set of burglary tools and a suspended driver’s license in Kaheel’s possession, shedding light on the suspect’s criminal intentions.

Further inspection of the stolen truck revealed that its license plate matched that of a vehicle reported stolen just days earlier. Kaheel, who admitted to being under the influence of fentanyl and feeling dizzy, was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment before facing a slew of charges.

In the aftermath of the chaotic pursuit, Kaheel was arrested and now faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving with a revoked license, and leaving the scene of a crash, among others.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and criminal behavior on the streets of Orange County, prompting residents to remain vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement in ensuring the safety and security of their community.
