Man and Woman Arrested in Pomona Shooting Death

In a tragic incident that shook the community of Pomona, a man and woman have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man. The Pomona Police Department made the announcement on Thursday, Feb. 15, shedding light on the details surrounding the incident.

Details of the Incident

The shooting took place on Monday, Jan. 29, at approximately 11:56 PM. Pomona Police Department officers swiftly responded to the scene, located at the 900 block of Holt Avenue in Pomona. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, later identified as 35-year-old James Avila, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Efforts were made to save Avila’s life, and he was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Avila succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Identification and Arrest of Suspects

The Pomona Police Department worked diligently to identify the individuals responsible for Avila’s killing. Eventually, they named Armando Wardle, a 29-year-old man from Pomona, and Mayan Ayala, a 28-year-old woman, as the prime suspects.

On Friday, Feb. 9, Wardle and Ayala were apprehended in Pomona on suspicion of their involvement in the murder of James Avila. The swift action of law enforcement led to their successful arrest, providing some relief to the community.

Judicial Proceedings

Following their arrest, Mayan Ayala was booked into the Century Regional Detention Center. Her bail has been set at an astounding $2 million, reflecting the serious nature of the charges against her. Armando Wardle, on the other hand, was booked into the North County Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail, as per the Los Angeles County Booking Information.
