Idaho County Deputy Discovers Firearms and Drugs During Traffic Stop

WHITE BIRD, Idaho – A routine traffic stop in Idaho County took a dangerous turn when a deputy discovered firearms and a variety of drugs in the suspect’s vehicle.

The incident occurred on February 16 at approximately 4:21 p.m. when the deputy pulled over a driver for a traffic violation. Upon further inspection, the deputy identified the driver as Jacob Larson, a 39-year-old resident of White Bird.

During the initial conversation with Larson, the deputy noticed a jar of marijuana, bullets, and a rifle in plain sight inside the vehicle. It was later revealed that Larson was prohibited from possessing firearms, leading to his immediate arrest by law enforcement.

Further search of Larson’s vehicle uncovered two additional rifles, a handgun, and drug paraphernalia. In addition, a personal search of Larson yielded methamphetamine, a scale, and more marijuana.

As a result of the discovery, Larson was arrested on multiple charges, including felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, felony unlawful possession of a firearm, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident to determine the origin and intended use of the seized items.
