Details of the Incident
The victims, identified as Iktoy, a 60-year-old village chairman, and Topie, a 45-year-old village councilor, were engaged in a conversation in front of the councilor’s house when an unidentified suspect suddenly appeared and opened fire. The victims sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies, with the village chairman tragically losing his life on the spot.
The wounded councilor, Topie, was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The suspect, meanwhile, fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving behind a trail of confusion and fear in the peaceful neighborhood of Barangay Catmon.
Police Investigation
The Ormoc City Police Office (Ocpo) has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, working tirelessly to track down the perpetrator and bring them to justice. Major Manuta, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas (PRO-8), confirmed that the Ocpo is exploring all possible leads and conducting interviews with witnesses to piece together the sequence of events.
Additionally, the police have been working closely with the injured councilor, Topie, who is currently recovering in the hospital, to identify the suspect and provide crucial information that could lead to their apprehension.
