Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Kansas City has been sentenced to probation following a shooting incident that took place at The LINC in 2020. Deangelo Hawley Jr. has been handed a five-year supervised probation term for his involvement in the November 4, 2020, shooting.

The incident unfolded at The LINC on Lafayette Street, a popular venue in Kansas City known for hosting various events and gatherings. Hawley found himself in the midst of a tumultuous situation that led to his indictment by a Cole County grand jury in 2021. The charges brought against him included four counts of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action. Ultimately, one count of unlawful use of a weapon resulted in the sentencing that was passed this week.

Eyewitnesses and victims at the scene identified Hawley as one of the shooters involved in the altercation that left four individuals injured, all of whom were Lincoln University students. The shooting is said to have stemmed from a prior incident at a residence hall, according to statements provided by Lincoln University Police Department Chief Gary Hill.

The Jefferson City Police Department’s probable cause statement revealed that some of the victims were specifically targeted, while others were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.
