“70-Year-Old Man Arrested for Hoax Call About Terrorist Attack in Mumbai’s Dongri: Bhagwan Bhapkar Alias Nazrul Sheikh”

Mumbai: A 70-year-old man has been arrested in Mumbai’s Dongri area for allegedly making a hoax call claiming that a group of terrorists had entered the Durga area with rifles. The call, which was made on February 14, led to a prompt response from the police.

Upon receiving the information, the police immediately dispatched a bomb squad to the reported location and launched a thorough investigation. However, after meticulously searching the area, no suspicious activities or objects were found.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the call was made from a public call office (PCO). To ensure the safety of the area, the police deployed additional resources, including sniffer dog teams, to thoroughly examine the surroundings. After confirming that no imminent threat existed, the authorities concluded that the call was indeed a hoax.

Following further investigation, it was determined that the call originated from a PCO booth located at Samant Bhai Nanji Marg, adjacent to Shafi Masjid. CCTV footage helped the police identify the suspect, and his image was subsequently circulated among informants.

The suspect, identified as Bhagwan Bhapkar alias Nazrul Sheikh, was tracked down by the police. Bhapkar, a 70-year-old resident of Vikhroli’s Tagore Nagar, was arrested by a dedicated team. He was presented before a court on Friday, where he was granted bail due to his ailing health.

Bhapkar now faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged involvement in making a false threat and causing panic in the community.
