Deadly Shooting in Wichita Leads to Arrests

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Authorities in Wichita are currently investigating a tragic incident that resulted in a fatal shooting. The police have also successfully made two arrests in connection with the case.

According to Police Lt. Aaron Moses, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon, just after 4 p.m., in the 1400 block of South George Washington Blvd. in Wichita. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Candace Amack of Wichita, was discovered outside a residence, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Utilizing the latest technology known as FLOCK, Wichita Police Officers were able to track down a possible suspect vehicle that was seen leaving the area following the shooting.

Subsequently, the officers managed to pinpoint and locate the vehicle at a residence situated in the 1300 block of North Jackson in Wichita. Through a collaborative effort with the Kansas Highway Patrol air section, the Wichita Police Department successfully coordinated their actions, leading to the safe apprehension of the suspects at around 7:45 pm near 13th and Hydraulic during a vehicle stop.

The two individuals who have been identified as the suspects are 24-year-old Jose Velazquez-Carillo and 33-year-old Martin Velazquez-Villa. They were taken into custody without any resistance and have since been arrested on charges of First-Degree Murder as per the request.
