The Pittsburg Police Department (PPD) has apprehended a man who was caught engaging in indecent behavior outside a daycare facility in Pittsburg, Kansas. The incident occurred during the week of Valentine’s Day and has sparked concern within the community. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Walter Lalimo, remains in custody following a brief chase.
Reports of Disturbing Behavior
On Thursday, February 15, around 3:30 p.m., the PPD received a distressing call from the staff at a local daycare on E. 13th St. Witnesses reported witnessing a man openly masturbating across the street from the facility. Law enforcement officials quickly responded to the scene, determined to address the situation promptly.
A Swift Capture
As the police arrived, additional reports regarding the suspect’s whereabouts flooded in, aiding in his apprehension. Lalimo was located in the vicinity of 10th and Rouse St. However, upon spotting the authorities, he attempted to flee the scene. Fortunately, after a short pursuit, the officers managed to subdue and apprehend him.
Charges and Legal Consequences
Following his arrest, Lalimo was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Crawford County Jail. The charges against him include aggravated indecent liberties with a child, a serious offense, and felony interference with law enforcement. Due to the severity of the charges, Lalimo currently remains behind bars without bond.
