Former Employee identified as Suspect in Deadly Shooting at Hampton Wingstop

The Hampton Police Division has identified the suspect in the tragic shooting at a Wingstop in Hampton, Virginia, on Wednesday night as a former employee. The suspect’s name is being withheld until the necessary warrants have been obtained.

The Shooting at Wingstop

The shooting took place at the Wingstop located on Coliseum Crossing near Peninsula Town Center. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered 29-year-old Travell “Trey” Giles of Newport News with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Giles succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

According to investigators, Giles and the suspect had a prior acquaintance and were involved in an argument inside the Wingstop. The disagreement escalated, and during the heated exchange, the suspect allegedly fired the fatal shots. The suspect managed to flee the scene before law enforcement arrived.
