On December 16, 2023, law enforcement received a distress call regarding a shooting incident at the Clean Freak Car Wash located near 44th Street and McDowell Road in Phoenix. Responding officers found Smith severely injured at the scene. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with critical injuries but tragically succumbed to them.
The initial investigation revealed that Smith had engaged in a altercation with an employee of the car wash. However, no arrests were made at that time. In the latest update, the police confirmed that William Murray, who was originally detained at the scene, has been identified as the business employee involved in the incident. It has not been clarified whether Murray was employed by the car wash or another establishment in the vicinity.
Following the new evidence, William Murray has been charged with second-degree murder.
