Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Recently acquired images reveal the aftermath of a stabbing allegedly carried out by Jesus Ayala, the same teenager accused of a deadly crime spree in Las Vegas during the summer of 2023.

A grand jury indicted Jesus Ayala in January, adding three additional charges in connection with the stabbing incident near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard in June 2023. The charges include attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, and attempted robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police took Ayala into custody on August 14, 2023, soon after retired California police chief Andy Probst, 64, was tragically killed while riding his bicycle. Ayala, who was 17 years old at the time, was apprehended as the driver of the vehicle involved in the intentional hit-and-run that claimed Probst’s life. The incident was captured on video from inside a car, which subsequently went viral.

Authorities have identified Jzamir Keys, who was 16 years old at the time, as Ayala’s co-defendant and passenger during the fatal hit-and-run.

Earlier that morning, the teens were also involved in another intentional hit-and-run incident, where Keys was behind the wheel and Ayala was the passenger. This incident involved another cyclist, a 72-year-old man, who fortunately survived the ordeal.

In addition to the hit-and-run incidents, the teens had also stolen at least three cars on that fateful day.

Ayala had previous encounters with the juvenile justice system, as reported by the 8 News Now Investigators. However, in Nevada, juveniles charged with murder can be tried as adults, resulting in their cases being moved to the adult system.

Ayala’s connection to the June stabbing emerged after his arrest in relation to the deadly crime spree. Despite Ayala’s denial of involvement in the stabbing during his conversations with the police from jail, the victim identified him as one of the assailants. According to the grand jury transcripts, the victim stated that he was attacked and robbed by the group while taking out the trash. He endured severe beatings and sustained injuries to his face, near his ear, as well as five stab wounds to his back, leaving him with lasting scars.

The FBI assisted in the investigation by analyzing cell phone records, which placed Ayala in the vicinity of the stabbing.

During the crime scene investigation, the police discovered a bloody knife. Furthermore, detectives uncovered video evidence from an incident involving a stolen car and several of the same teenagers that occurred the day after the stabbing.

Ayala’s jury trial is scheduled for September 16, while Keys’ trial is set for November 12..
