Through dental records analysis, the remains have been identified as those of Susan Lockwood, a woman who had gone missing while hiking in the area.

The discovery of Lockwood’s remains came about when a hiker and his dog stumbled upon a hiking boot containing human remains on February 9. Subsequently, a Troop and his K-9 partner were able to locate the rest of Lockwood’s remains, including a skull and other personal items, on February 12.
