The death of a man in northeast Calgary home ruled as homicide

The Calgary police have confirmed that the death of a man, whose body was discovered on Wednesday, in a residence in northeast Calgary, is being treated as a homicide. The police were called to the scene on February 14 after receiving reports of a suspicious death.

The victim has been identified as Jose Miguel Gutierrez Polanco, aged 28.

Following an autopsy conducted on Thursday, the medical examiner ruled the cause of Polanco’s death as a homicide.

Calgary police are appealing to anyone who may have known Polanco or had recent contact with him to come forward and provide relevant information to aid in their investigation.

In addition, the police are also requesting the public’s assistance in providing any details regarding suspicious activities that may have occurred around the 300 block of Grier Avenue N.E. on January 28 and January 29.

Homicide unit Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson emphasized the importance of even the smallest piece of information in helping to advance the investigation. “Any piece of information, big or small, may have a significant impact on our investigation,” said Gregson in a press release.

The Calgary police are diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding Polanco’s death. They are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident or any suspicious activities in the area to come forward and help with their ongoing investigation.
