Second Arrest Made in Connection with Mississauga Delivery Driver Murder

A second individual has been apprehended in relation to the violent carjacking and murder of a delivery driver in Mississauga last summer. This arrest comes after a lengthy investigation into the tragic incident.

The victim, Gurvinder Nath, aged 24, was delivering pizza in the early hours of July 9, 2022, in the vicinity of Britannia and Creditview roads when a group of assailants confronted him, attempting to steal his vehicle.

A confrontation ensued between Nath and the suspects, resulting in the culprits driving away in Nath’s car, leaving him gravely injured on the roadside. He was immediately transported to a trauma center, but tragically succumbed to his injuries on July 14.

Balram Krishan, Nath’s cousin, expressed the family’s devastation, stating, “He was an innocent victim, simply carrying out his duties as a pizza delivery driver when he was senselessly attacked by random individuals,” as reported by CTV News Toronto.

On November 22, 2023, Peel police made a significant breakthrough in the case. They arrested and charged a youth with second-degree murder in connection with Gurvinder Nath’s death. Due to legal restrictions outlined in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused cannot be named publicly. The arrest took place during the execution of a search warrant at a residential address in Brampton. Notably, law enforcement officers also seized a firearm during the arrest.

The second suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jazaine Kerr, now faces charges of second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.

While it remains unclear whether the police are actively seeking additional suspects, they have asserted that a thorough investigation into the case is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information or video footage to come forward and assist the investigation.
