Calgary Police Investigate Suspicious Death as Homicide
The Calgary Police Service is treating a suspicious death that occurred on Wednesday as a homicide. Investigators are now seeking the assistance of the public in providing any information related to the case.
On February 14th, officers were called to the Greenview community in response to the incident. According to a press release, they discovered the body of a deceased man inside a residence located in the 300 block of Grier Avenue NE.
Following an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Thursday, the death was officially ruled as a homicide. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Calgarian, Jose Miguel Gutierrez Polanco.
Calgary Police Service investigators are urging anyone who knew Polanco or had recent contact with him to come forward. Additionally, they are requesting any information regarding suspicious activities that may have occurred near the 300 block of Grier Avenue NE on January 28th and 29th. Authorities believe that Polanco’s last interaction with his family took place on January 28th.

“Any piece of information, no matter how small, may have a significant impact on our investigation,” emphasized Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.
Polanco was described as approximately 5’7″ tall, weighing around 160 pounds, and having long, dark hair styled in dreadlocks.
