Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting Near Phoenix Car Wash
PHOENIX — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred near a car wash in Phoenix last year, authorities announced on Friday.

William Murray, aged 30, was initially detained at the scene of the crime but was subsequently released. After two months of investigation, Murray was taken into custody and booked into Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
The incident took place on December 16, 2023, just before 7 a.m. near the intersection of 44th Street and McDowell Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 40-year-old Brandon Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. Smith was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have revealed that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Smith and Murray, who is said to be an employee of a nearby business. Murray was temporarily detained following the shooting.

While the incident occurred in close proximity to the Clean Freak Car Wash, the police have not confirmed whether Murray was working at the establishment at the time.
