The incident took place on February 7 at the Pizza Hut located near the intersection of Chicago Avenue and College Avenue. It was discovered when a garbage truck driver found the body of the manager, Alexander Stengel, inside a trash can near the dumpster behind the restaurant. The body was covered with plastic bags, and a trail of blood led from the dumpster area to the back of the Pizza Hut.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Stengel’s wallet, keys, and cell phone were also missing. Detectives found the majority of the floors in the Pizza Hut dirty, except for a specific area past the front counter into the kitchen. Additionally, a small utility closet with blood stains and coagulated blood in the sink was discovered, along with a mop that had bloody handprints.

During the autopsy, it was determined that Stengel had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, a cut across his throat, and puncture wounds on his neck. The cause of death was determined to be homicide.

Surveillance footage from a nearby Taco Bell revealed a suspect dragging a trash can from the back of the Pizza Hut to the dumpster on February 5 at 10:25 a.m. The suspect appeared to be struggling with the can. Interviews with Pizza Hut employees revealed that Stengel had shown a large roll of cash to several employees on February 3, as an independent investigation confirmed that he had cashed a $7,000 inheritance check in Cudahy before coming to work.

Further surveillance footage captured the same person boarding a bus at 11:01 a.m., half an hour after dragging the trash can. The suspect was later identified as Kavonn Ingram. Cell phone records placed Ingram at the Pizza Hut at 10:25 a.m. on February 5. A search warrant executed at Ingram’s residence led to the discovery of a red and black backpack containing a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, three unfired FMJ 9mm cartridges, and a check from Pizza Hut made out in Ingram’s name.

Ingram’s girlfriend, who answered the door during the search, revealed that he had told her that Stengel was about to receive a large settlement. She also mentioned that Ingram had made a disturbing statement, saying, “The head works as a silencer. So if you and him are in the back of the store, and your gun is to his head, and you shoot him in the head, it works as a silencer, and no one is gonna hear it.”

The discovery of blood stains in the sink and a blood-stained towel in the bathroom further incriminated Ingram.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community of South Milwaukee. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Alexander Stengel and seeks justice for his untimely death..
