Chandigarh was struck by yet another horrifying incident as a 48-year-old man was found brutally murdered in the bushes at Kajheri village in Sector 52 on Thursday. The victim, identified as Ramesh Kumar, had been missing for the past two days before his lifeless body was discovered. According to the police, he had been stabbed multiple times, indicating the brutality of the crime.

This shocking incident marks the fifth murder in the city in 2024 so far, raising concerns about the safety and security of its residents. The authorities are working diligently to solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Palsora village in Sector 56, worked as a cook in a house in Mohali. His absence was noticed by a passer-by who stumbled upon his lifeless body in the bushes at Kajheri and immediately alerted the police control room around 8.45 am. The PCR cops swiftly reached the spot and rushed Ramesh to GMSH-16 (Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16), where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The body was then transferred to the GMSH-16 mortuary for further investigation and post-mortem examination.

Upon examination, the police discovered injury marks caused by sharp-edged weapons on the victim’s chest and abdomen areas. Additionally, three disposable glasses and an empty liquor bottle were found at the crime scene, indicating that there may have been at least two more people present, possibly consuming alcohol with the victim.

In a disturbing twist, Ramesh’s shoes were found near his legs, suggesting that the culprits dumped his body in the bushes after murdering him elsewhere. Investigators are currently conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the murder.

Initial findings reveal that Ramesh had visited his sister in Kajheri on February 13. He left his sister’s house around 11 pm but never reached his residence in Palsora. Concerned about his sudden disappearance, his family members attempted to contact him but were unsuccessful. They subsequently reported his disappearance to the police, hoping for a swift resolution.

In response to this tragic incident, the Sector 36 police, along with a CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory) team, conducted a thorough search of the crime scene, collecting crucial evidence for further examination. As of now, the police have registered a murder case against unidentified individuals and are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.

The community is shaken by this horrific incident, and residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Chandigarh Police Department is working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, and they are determined to apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous crime.

In recent news, two other murder cases have also gained attention. An Indian-origin man in Canada is wanted for his father’s murder, leaving the community in shock. The Hamilton Police responded to a distress call after an altercation, and the suspect, Sukhaj Singh Cheema, fled the scene. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous, and an investigation is underway.

In another incident, the body of a 22-year-old man was found floating in a village canal in Kanpur Dehat. The victim, identified as Imran, ran a salon and failed to return home one evening. The police are actively investigating the case to determine the motive and the identity of the assailants.

Furthermore, a 30-year-old man accused in an MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) case was found murdered in Navi Mumbai. The assailant, George Mendonca, a history-sheeter, fatally assaulted Chirag Loke with an iron rod due to previous enmity.

These incidents highlight the need for increased security measures and a stronger focus on crime prevention. The police and law enforcement agencies must work together with the community to create a safer environment for all residents..
