A homeless man has been arrested by the police in Long Beach for stealing a car with a 4-year-old child inside. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Downtown Long Beach, thanks to the quick thinking of two young women who saw an Amber Alert.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the child’s parent left the car running in the area of First Street and Linden Avenue. Seizing the opportunity, 29-year-old Timothy Wood got into the car and drove away, leaving the parent distraught. Meanwhile, two individuals named Reagan Dunn and Yenni Lu were in Long Beach when they received the Amber Alert on their phones. With nothing else to do, they decided to drive around the Downtown area in search of the stolen car and the missing child.

After a brief search, Dunn and Lu spotted the stolen Honda Accord near The Pike Outlets. There was no one around the vehicle, so they immediately called 911 to report their findings. The police arrived promptly, removed the child from the back seat, and safely reunited him with his parents.

Using security cameras in the area, the police were able to identify Timothy Wood as the suspected thief. They located and arrested him near the spot where he had abandoned the stolen vehicle. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) charged Wood with kidnapping, child endangerment, and auto theft. His bail has been set at $100,000, and the investigation is ongoing.

The police commended Reagan Dunn and Yenni Lu for their heroic efforts in locating the missing child. Their quick thinking and willingness to act played a crucial role in reuniting the child with his parents.
