North Little Rock Family Mourns Loss of Loved One in Shooting Tragedy

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The residents of North Little Rock are devastated as they mourn the loss of a beloved family member who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. The heartbreaking incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Summit at Valley Heights Apartments, located at the 5600 block of Summertree Drive, shortly before 10:45 a.m.

The victim’s identity has not been disclosed by the North Little Rock Police Department. However, Lovely Hudson, the victim’s aunt, revealed that it was her nephew, Fayshun Verser, who tragically lost his life in the incident.

Heartbroken by the loss, Hudson tearfully expressed, “Fayshun was so precious to me.”

Sadly, this shooting marks the fourth homicide in North Little Rock within the first two months of 2024.

Desperate for an end to the violence, Hudson pleaded, “I’m begging y’all, please stop the killing.”

In addition to this tragic incident, another devastating crime occurred on February 13th when a 27-year-old mother and her five-month-old son were found dead on the I-440 ramp from Highway 165.

The mother has been identified as Teangela Tate, a resident of Jacksonville. The young infant, tragically, was named Noel Mott.

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in solving the Summit at Valley Heights Apartments homicide, as well as shedding light on the deaths of the mother and son.

A surviving sibling of the deceased infant was found at the scene and immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. The child, approximately one and a half years old, remains in critical condition.

Another tragic incident occurred on February 5th when 19-year-old Thomas Phillips was killed at the 300 block of East “C” Ave. The North Little Rock Police Department has arrested 19-year-old Robert Duncan Jr. on charges of capital murder in connection with Phillips’ death.

Expressing her deep sorrow, Tanya Verser, a family member of Fayshun Verser, stated, “These young people are dying too often over senseless stuff, and it doesn’t make any sense.”

Comparing the current situation to the previous year, it is distressing to note that North Little Rock has witnessed four homicides within the first two months of 2024, whereas it took until April in 2023 to reach that number. Although the numbers may be higher, even a single loss of life is one too many.

Verser added, “God didn’t put them here to kill each other. That’s not what we are here for.”

Anyone with information related to these incidents is urged to contact the North Little Rock Police Department Tip Line at 501-680-8439. Informants can choose to remain anonymous.
