Woman Killed in Deadly Mass Shooting at Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Identified as Local Radio Host

A woman who tragically lost her life in the horrific mass shooting that took place during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade has been identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved local radio host, according to her employer, radio station KKFI. The authorities have not yet officially released the names of the victims, but KKFI confirmed the devastating news on their social media platforms.

Expressing their profound grief, KKFI released a statement saying, “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and the Kansas City community.” The shooting incident left at least 21 other individuals wounded, including children and teenagers. Kansas City Fire Department chief Ross Grundyson revealed that eight people sustained immediately life-threatening injuries, while seven had life-threatening injuries, and six suffered minor injuries.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, known as “Lisa G” in her DJ role, was not only an extrovert but also a devoted mother. Childhood friends Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez, who had the privilege of working with her at a staffing company, spoke fondly of her to the Associated Press. They described her as a vibrant individual who attended the parade with her husband and adult son, an ardent Kansas City sports fan who was also a victim of the shooting.

The tragic incident occurred near Union Station in Kansas City, marking the end of the Chiefs’ victorious Super Bowl parade. Shortly after the shooting, three individuals were apprehended by the authorities, and one firearm has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

According to her biography on KFFI’s website, Lisa Lopez-Galvan had an illustrious career as a private DJ for over 15 years. She began hosting “Taste of Tejano” in March 2022, showcasing her passion for music. Lisa Lopez, a longtime friend unrelated to Lopez-Galvan, who works at the Kansas City Star, expressed her deep sorrow over the loss. She described Lopez-Galvan as “the most wonderful, beautiful person” and highlighted her involvement in numerous weddings as a local DJ.
