Kansas City, Missouri – In the aftermath of the deadly mass shooting that occurred at the conclusion of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, authorities have identified the victim as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a well-known local radio host. The 43-year-old host of radio station KFFI’s “Taste of Tejano” was tragically killed in the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community.

According to Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves, “We are still learning about her, but know that she is beloved by many. To her friends and family, we are with you, and we are working tirelessly to investigate her murder.” The shocking news of Lopez-Galvan’s death was first announced by KFFI in a post on social media on Wednesday, and it was officially confirmed by authorities in a news conference on Thursday.

The shooting incident, which took place near Union Station in Kansas City, resulted in the injury of at least 21 other individuals, including children and teenagers. Among the injured, eight individuals had immediately life-threatening injuries, seven had life-threatening injuries, and six had minor injuries, as reported by Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grundyson.

Lopez-Galvan, known by her DJ name “Lisa G,” was not only a radio host but also an extrovert and a devoted mother. Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez, childhood friends who worked with her at a staffing company, described her as a beautiful person. They shared memories of her vibrant personality and the positive impact she had on the Kansas City community.

KKFI, the radio station where Lopez-Galvan worked, expressed their grief and devastation in a statement, stating, “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.” It was revealed that Lopez-Galvan attended the parade with her husband and her adult son, who is also a die-hard Kansas City sports fan and was injured in the shooting.

The shooting incident occurred following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday. Shortly after the incident, three individuals were taken into custody, and authorities have recovered at least one firearm, according to Chief Graves.

Lopez-Galvan’s bio on KFFI’s website highlighted her extensive experience as a private DJ for over 15 years and her passion for hosting “Taste of Tejano.” The bio also emphasized her belief in the power of music as a source of happiness and therapy for individuals.

Speaking about her late friend, Lisa Lopez, a longtime friend of no relation who works at the Kansas City Star, said, “She was the most wonderful, beautiful person. She was a local DJ. She did everybody’s weddings. We all know her. She was so full of life.”
