Indianapolis Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Alleged Altercation in Miami County

INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis resident is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with an alleged altercation that took place in Miami County, Indiana, according to the Indiana State Police (ISP).

The incident came to light on February 6 when a woman contacted the ISP claiming to be a victim of a domestic battery incident that occurred on January 27. The woman stated that the altercation took place while they were driving on U.S. 31 in Miami County. The passenger in her vehicle, identified as 42-year-old Achery Nailon, allegedly became physically violent, brandished a firearm, and fired a shot through the roof of the vehicle.

Following a complex and thorough investigation, authorities obtained a warrant through Miami County and subsequently apprehended Nailon in Indianapolis during a high-risk traffic stop. Nailon now faces a host of charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, criminal confinement, pointing a firearm at another person, domestic battery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and violation of probation stemming from a charge issued in St. Joseph County, Indiana.

Nailon was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Miami County. The Indiana State Police collaborated closely with the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office throughout the investigation, and detectives are currently pursuing additional leads.
