Indian-Origin Family Found Dead in California Apartment

An Indian-origin family residing in California, United States, was tragically found dead in their apartment, adding to the growing list of unfortunate incidents involving Indians or people of Indian origin in the country. The family of four, identified as Anand Sujith Henry, his wife Alice Priyanka, and their twin children Noah and Neithan, was discovered lifeless on February 13 in San Mateo.

The San Mateo police had initially been dispatched for a welfare check on the family. However, upon receiving no response, they entered the residence and uncovered the bodies of the deceased. The police statement confirmed, “San Mateo Police officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Alameda de las Pulgas on the report of a welfare check. After arriving officers were met with no response, they searched the perimeter of the home and did not see any signs of forced entry into the house. Finding an unlocked window, officers entered the home and located four people dead; 1 adult male, 1 adult female, and two children.”

The authorities revealed that the couple was found in the bathroom, both with gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, the cause of death for the twin children is currently under investigation. The police statement further mentioned, “Tragically, the two children were found deceased inside a bedroom. Their cause of death is still under investigation. The male and female were located deceased from gunshot wounds inside a bathroom. A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also found in the bathroom.”

The San Mateo Police assured the public that this incident appears to be isolated, with no immediate danger to the community, as the person responsible was located within the home. Nonetheless, an extensive investigation is currently underway. Detectives are diligently gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and family members, and striving to determine a possible motive for this tragic event, as stated by the San Mateo Police.

This devastating incident adds to a series of distressing events involving individuals of Indian origin in the United States. Just last week, a 41-year-old Indian-origin man named Vivek Taneja passed away after sustaining life-threatening injuries from an assault in downtown Washington. Despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment, Taneja succumbed to his injuries a few days later on February 7.

In another shocking incident earlier this month, an Indian student named Syed Mazahir Ali was brutally attacked in Chicago. Disturbing videos circulating on social media captured Ali bleeding profusely as he recounted the horrific encounter. The Indian Consulate in Chicago has been in contact with both the victim and his wife in India, offering support and assistance.

Tragically, this year has witnessed the loss of several young Indian students in the US. Sameer Kamath, a 23-year-old Indian student pursuing a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University, was found dead in Warren County. Additionally, Vivek Saini, another Indian student, met a brutal demise at the hands of a homeless man inside a store in Lithonia, Georgia. The homeless man repeatedly struck Saini with a hammer, resulting in his tragic death.

The deaths of Shreyas Reddy, Neel Acharya, and Akul Dhawan, all Indian students, also serve as painful reminders of the challenges faced by individuals of Indian origin in the United States.

While investigations continue into these heartbreaking incidents, it is essential for authorities to address the safety concerns and ensure the well-being of the Indian community in the US.
