A man from Connecticut who was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Pennsylvania in December has been apprehended in Harford, according to official reports.

Benjamin Villanueva, a 33-year-old suspect, was taken into custody on Thursday by the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force, Hartford Police Department, and Connecticut State Police at a residence situated on Main Street in Hartford. The arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of these law enforcement agencies, as confirmed by the U.S. Marshals Service.

The incident in question occurred during the early morning hours of December 9, 2023. Officers from the Williamsport Police Department responded to a distress call in the 1000 block of Memorial Avenue in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, they discovered 29-year-old Jermaine Derick Mullen, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate aid provided by officers and EMS personnel, Mullen tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, Benjamin Villanueva was identified as the prime suspect responsible for the shooting, according to officials familiar with the case.

After his arrest on Thursday, Villanueva was promptly transported to the Hartford Police Department for processing. He now faces charges as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Pennsylvania, where he will be held accountable for charges including murder and parole violation.
