A capital murder suspect arrested in Florida for the fatal shooting of a teenage boy in Montgomery

A capital murder suspect in the fatal September shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Montgomery was taken into custody earlier this month in Florida, police confirmed on Wednesday.

Raymond Kemp, a 19-year-old resident of Montgomery, has been charged with capital murder-robbery in connection with the slaying that occurred on September 20th, according to Maj. Saba Coleman of the Montgomery Police Department.

Court records revealed that Kemp was already on a $40,000 bond for a separate attempted murder case when he allegedly committed the murder.

Although authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity due to his age, two other suspects, aged 16 and 17, were previously charged with capital murder in relation to the case in December.

Montgomery police sought assistance from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task force to apprehend Kemp. On February 1st, the task force successfully apprehended him in Cocoa, Florida.

Following his arrest, Kemp was transferred to the Montgomery County jail on February 13th.
