Body of Missing Bulloch County Man, Jeffrey Haymons, Found in Ogeechee River

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body discovered by rangers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in the Ogeechee River has been identified as Jeffrey Haymons. The 59-year-old Bulloch County resident had been missing since February 2.

Rangers from the DNR made the grim discovery on Thursday morning near Williams Landing. This comes after Haymons’ white 2000 Ford Expedition was found at the same location on Saturday, February 3. Williams Landing, situated in northern Bulloch County, is located off Old River Road North and Macedonia Road.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office has been tirelessly searching for Haymons since his disappearance, utilizing resources from various agencies. Search efforts have encompassed land, water, and air around Williams Landing, where Haymons was last seen.

The body found in the Ogeechee River was positively identified as Haymons. In order to determine the cause of death, his remains will be transported to the Georgia Bureau Investigation lab in Savannah for an autopsy.

Bulloch Sheriff Noel Brown expressed gratitude towards the DNR, Bulloch County Public Safety, and Bulloch County E.M.S. for their assistance in the search efforts. He also extended a special thanks to the Burke County Dive Team, who conducted an underwater search under challenging and hazardous conditions.
