Man Arrested for Murder After Barricade Situation in Glendale

A 28-year-old man was taken into custody for suspicion of murder after a lengthy standoff in Glendale, which concluded with the discovery of a body. The incident unfolded on Wednesday when Glendale Police Department officers responded to a reported assault in the 3300 block of Reta Street, as confirmed by Sgt. Victor Jackson.

Upon arrival, the officers uncovered evidence of an assault but were unable to locate both the suspect and the victim. As a precautionary measure, three nearby schools were placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of the students and staff.

After an intensive search, the authorities were able to pinpoint the suspect’s whereabouts at a residence on Reta Street. With this information, the schools lifted the lockdowns and allowed students to leave campus without any harm.

The Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Team from the Glendale Police Department were promptly deployed to the scene to initiate negotiations with the barricaded suspect, identified as 28-year-old Vahan Keshishyan from La Crescenta. After several hours of intense negotiations, Keshishyan ultimately surrendered to the SWAT operators.
