American Idol season 19 contestant, Alex Miller, has been involved in a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of one person. The 20-year-old country music singer was not driving at the time of the accident but was a passenger in a bus that was struck by another car on Tuesday.

In a statement posted on Alex’s Instagram, it was revealed that the accident occurred while he and several members of his band were returning from a vacation. The statement expressed their sadness over the incident and extended thoughts and prayers to the deceased driver and his family. Fortunately, no one on the bus sustained any injuries.

The Kentucky State Police also released a statement providing further details about the crash. The incident took place on February 13 around 10:28 pm on South Wildness Road in Rockcastle County. The collision involved a 2004 Toyota Rav4 and a 1997 Vanhool (Tour Bus). James M. Mcpheron, a 53-year-old male from Mount Vernon, Kentucky, was identified as the deceased driver. According to the preliminary report, Mcpheron lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of the tour bus.

Despite the tragic accident, Alex Miller’s manager expressed his client’s remorse for the loss of the driver’s life. The manager emphasized that the accident was very unfortunate. The investigation is currently being carried out by KSP Post 11 Trooper Aron Jones, with assistance from various agencies including Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Mount Vernon Police Department, Rockcastle EMS, Mount Vernon Fire Department, and the Rockcastle County Coroner.

Prior to the accident, Alex Miller had announced plans to release a new song called “Oh Odessa” on February 14. However, it is likely that the release will be postponed due to the devastating crash.

Alex Miller gained recognition as a contestant on American Idol season 19 when he was just 17 years old. He impressed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan with his original song, “I’m Over You, So Get Over Me.” Although he made it through the initial audition round, he was ultimately eliminated before reaching the Top 24.

This unfortunate incident involving Alex Miller is not the first tragedy to affect a season 19 alum. In 2022, runner-up Willie Spence was killed in a collision between his Jeep and a parked tractor-trailer in Tennessee.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and more details may emerge as authorities continue their work..
