35-Year-Old Man Charged in Double Murder Case in Barrow County

Cody Jones, a 35-year-old man, is now facing murder charges in the tragic double murder that occurred in Barrow County last week. The victims, Michael and Susan Alvold, aged 64 and 66 respectively, were found dead in their residence in Winder, shocking the local community. Jones, who was injured during the shootings, is currently under guard in an undisclosed hospital, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place in the early morning hours of February 8 when the Barrow County deputies received a distress call about multiple people being shot at a residence on Kendall Park Drive in Winder.

Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies discovered the lifeless bodies of the married couple, identified as Susan Denise Arvold and Michael Alan Alvold. Additionally, Cody Donavan Jones, a 35-year-old man who made the 911 call, was found injured at the scene.

After investigation, the authorities have identified Cody Jones as the prime suspect in the case. Although the exact relationship between Jones and the victims has not been officially disclosed, the sheriff’s office revealed that they had previously responded to a domestic incident at the same residence in 2023.

Neighbours, who preferred to remain anonymous when speaking to Channel 2 Action News, mentioned that the son living at the residence has a history of outbursts that have raised concerns in the past.

Due to the injuries sustained during the shooting, Cody Jones is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital under guard. Once he is released, he will be charged with two counts of malice murder, as confirmed by the Barrow investigators. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

This tragic double murder has left the community in shock and mourning. The local authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and bring justice to the victims and their families.
