A 26-year-old pupil teacher, named Bernard Tamayiri, has been recaptured by the Tuna police in the Sawla district of the Savannah region after managing to escape from police custody.
Tamayiri was initially apprehended for allegedly stealing from a mobile phone accessory shop in Tuna.
According to reports, Tamayiri absconded from police custody in January 2024.
He purportedly sought permission from the police officers to attend to nature’s call, but instead made a swift exit.
Following his escape, the police initiated an extensive search operation to locate and apprehend Tamayiri.
After weeks of relentless pursuit, the Tuna police successfully apprehended him at his undisclosed hiding place.
Tamayiri was scheduled to appear before the Bole district magistrate court on 14th February 2024.
