Shortly after the incident, deputies spoke with a witness who provided valuable information about the suspect’s vehicle. Video footage revealed a black two-door Camaro at the scene. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office promptly posted a photo of the vehicle on their official social media account, urging the public to come forward with any leads or information.

The following day, law enforcement officers located a vehicle that matched the description provided by the witness. Upon initial inspection, authorities noticed clothing fibers and blood beneath the Camaro. The owner of the vehicle, identified as Tyerel Lamar Brown, admitted to being the primary driver and claimed that no one else had access to the car, as stated in the affidavit.

Further analysis of the blood found underneath the vehicle confirmed the presence of human DNA. Additionally, examination of the fibers discovered beneath the car matched the clothing worn by Sandra Jenkins at the time of the accident.

Tyerel Lamar Brown was taken into custody on Monday afternoon and subsequently booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. A judge has set his bond at $150,000 for the charge of leaving the scene of a collision involving a death. Brown has since been released, according to the jail’s website.
