Man Robbed at Gunpoint in McDonough Neighborhood, Shot Multiple Times in Self-Defense

MCDONOUGH, Ga. — A man who police say robbed his victims at gunpoint was then shot multiple times in a Henry County neighborhood.

On January 30th, authorities in Henry County responded to a distress call at the Hampton Point Apartments in McDonough.

Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Artavious Reed suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigation and Identification of Individuals Involved

Henry County detectives, in their pursuit of justice, executed several search warrants and utilized Flock cameras to identify all individuals involved in the incident.

It was determined that Reed was the primary suspect in the case. Allegedly, he had robbed the victims at gunpoint and fired multiple shots at their car.

Self-Defense Leads to Gunfire Exchange

According to the police department, one of the victims, acting in self-defense, returned fire and struck Reed multiple times.

Charges and Additional Incidents

Artavious Reed has been charged with armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.

Moreover, detectives have gathered evidence linking Reed to two more armed robberies that occurred prior to this incident.

While the ages and identities of the victims have not been released, it is important to note that Reed was the only individual who sustained gunshot wounds.
