An Indian-American family of four, including two children, was tragically discovered dead inside their residence in San Mateo, California, on February 13, according to the San Mateo Police Department. Details of the Incident

In a statement, the San Mateo Police Department mentioned that two of the victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds, while the cause of death for the other two remains undetermined. Authorities found a 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine in the bathroom where the adults were found. Although initial suspicions pointed to carbon monoxide poisoning, no evidence of gas leakage or faulty appliances was found in the home.

Background of the Victims

The Indian-American couple were both IT professionals, originally from Kerala. Anand worked as a software engineer, while Alice served as a senior analyst. They moved to San Mateo County two years ago from New Jersey. Media reports indicate that the Indian mission in the country has extended consular assistance to the family’s relatives in India. Described as friendly, hardworking, and devoted parents, the couple was well-liked by both neighbors and colleagues.

Ongoing Investigation

According to San Mateo Police Department representative Jerami Surratt, authorities received a call seeking a welfare check on the family. However, there were no signs of forced entry, and the four were discovered deceased inside. The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the deaths is yet to be determined. US authorities are awaiting autopsy results and forensic analysis.

This incident adds to a series of unfortunate events involving Indian students in the country. Just last week, Purdue University student Sameer Kamath was discovered deceased in Warren County. The case bears resemblance to a recent case where a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter were found dead in their $5 million mansion in Massachusetts.
