Kanpur: Tragic Incident as Five-Year-Old Child Dies in Revelry Firing in Banda District

Kanpur witnessed a heartbreaking incident on Saturday as a five-year-old child lost his life in revelry firing in the Mataundh police station area of Banda district. The incident occurred during the ’tilak’ ceremony of Lokendra Singh, son of Surendra Singh, a resident of Mataundh.

The victim, identified as Shambhu Shukla, son of Bhura Shukla and also a resident of Mataundh town, was shot when some revellers engaged in indiscriminate firing. The child was immediately rushed to the district hospital and then referred to the Rani Durgawati Medical College in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Kanpur.

ASP Laxmi Niwas Mishra stated that upon receiving the information, a police team accompanied by forensic experts reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. Initial findings suggest that Pratyush Shukla, son of late Motilal Shukla, may be involved in the incident. Eyewitnesses reported that he had fired a country-made pistol, causing a grievous neck injury to Shambhu. The police are currently investigating the matter, and further action will be taken based on the complaint, evidence, and necessary findings. Multiple teams have been formed and dispatched to potential hideouts of the suspect.

ASP Laxmi Niwas Mishra emphasized the importance of preventing such incidents in the future and stated that instructions have been given to the in-charges of all police stations to ensure the safety of the public.
