Tragic Incident in Pipliya Mandi: Priest’s Father Passes Away Due to Shocking Eviction

Eviction in Pipliya Mandi

Pipliya Mandi, Madhya Pradesh: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Pipliya Mandi, Madhya Pradesh, when a 100-year-old father of a local priest tragically lost his life after being forcibly evicted from their home by officials of Mentor Finance Company, Jaipur. The elderly man, identified as Rupdas Bairagi, succumbed to shock and distress caused by the eviction, which was carried out due to outstanding home loan installments.

The distressing incident took place on February 1 in Bhilyakhedi village, under the jurisdiction of Nahargarh police station. Officials from the finance company, accompanied by the police, forcefully removed the belongings of Govinddas Bairagi, a priest at Ram Mandir, from their residence. Despite desperate pleas from the priest, his frail father Rupdas was also forcefully evicted, along with his bed.

In an effort to find shelter, the priest constructed a rudimentary mud house on their farm and the entire family began residing there. However, the trauma and shock of being thrown out of their home took a toll on Rupdas’ health, causing his condition to rapidly deteriorate. Tragically, he breathed his last on Sunday, succumbing to the mental and physical anguish inflicted upon him. The incident sparked widespread outrage, further amplified by the circulation of eviction footage through various social media platforms.

Shyamlal Jokchand, a prominent farmer leader, condemned the actions of both the government and the finance company. State Congress President Jitu Patwari utilized social media platforms to express his discontent with the government’s inaction in this matter. He demanded justice for the priest’s family and called for the finance company and police officials involved in the eviction to be held accountable for their actions.

This shocking incident has once again shed light on the plight of individuals facing financial hardships and struggling to meet their loan obligations. It raises questions about the fairness and empathy exhibited by financial institutions towards vulnerable borrowers, especially in cases involving elderly individuals.
