LABUAN, Feb 12 — In a commendable display of efficiency and courage, Labuan firemen successfully averted a potential disaster last night, saving over one hundred wooden houses at the water village of Patau-Patau 2.

The incident unfolded at 10pm when a fire broke out in the densely populated water village, posing a serious threat to the traditional wooden structures.

Fortunately, the prompt response of the Labuan Fire and Rescue Department proved crucial in preventing a catastrophe. Only one house was destroyed, while two neighboring houses suffered partial damage.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director, Abdul Rahman Ali, commended his team for their swift action in tackling the emergency. Within minutes of receiving the distress call, a team of 37 personnel was deployed to the scene.

Despite the challenges posed by the proximity of the wooden houses, the firefighters skillfully contained the blaze. They utilized sea water, water tankers, and fire breakers to ensure minimal damage to nearby structures, as reported by Bernama.

Thankfully, all occupants, except for the 39-year-old house owner, Khairul Mohamed, were safely evacuated from the affected areas. Khairul suffered minor arm injuries in the incident.
