He stated that Kiptum, who was driving at the time, lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and entered into a ditch before colliding with a large tree. The bodies of Kiptum and his coach have been moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted.
