Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Southwest Charlotte
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A tragic incident unfolded in southwest Charlotte as a woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reported that the victim, identified as Cyndee Taylor Dutton, 24, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident has been identified as Michael Anthony Putnam, 35. He has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle in connection with the incident.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 11. Officers received a distress call regarding a crash involving a pedestrian in the 3900 block of South Tryon Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found Cyndee Taylor Dutton lying in the road with severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to Atrium Health Main, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Initially, the vehicle responsible for the accident was not found. However, shortly after, the driver, Michael Anthony Putnam, contacted the police to report his involvement in the incident. He stated that he had hit Dutton and stopped his vehicle on the side of I-77 near Clanton Road.
Responding officers located a Chevrolet Equinox with significant front-end damage at the reported location. Putnam, who appeared impaired, was subsequently taken into custody by the DWI Task Force Officers for further questioning. He has now been charged with felony death by motor vehicle and is being held at the Mecklenburg County jail.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. They urge any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
