Rajasthan: Five Men Arrested and a Minor Detained in Connection with Alleged Gang Rape of 21-Year-Old Woman in Jaipur Cafe

In a significant development, the Jaipur (Rural) police have apprehended five men and detained a minor on February 9th for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a 21-year-old woman inside a cafe last month. The incident, which shook the local community, led to a swift response from the authorities.

The victim, who had filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Manoharpur police station, claimed that she was gang-raped by six individuals inside a cafe on January 9th. Prior to visiting the cafe, she had accompanied a friend to purchase jewelry.

Special Police Team Mobilized for Thorough Investigation

Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the police formed a special team consisting of 20 personnel to conduct a comprehensive investigation. The team meticulously examined the crime scene, reviewed nearby highways, and analyzed footage from more than 200 closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs).

After an extensive probe, the police successfully apprehended five suspects identified as Sachin Gurjar (19), Sanjay Gurjar (22), Lokesh (20), Rohitash Lal (25), and Om Prakash (24). In addition, a minor was detained pending verification of their age.

The investigation revealed that the alleged assault took place in the basement of the cafe, intensifying the gravity of the crime and highlighting the need for justice to be served swiftly.

Victim’s Background Subject to Scrutiny

Despite the victim initially claiming to be a student at a private medical university, authorities were unable to verify her enrollment. The victim, who is believed to be from a nearby town, had limited contact with her family, making the verification process more challenging.

According to reports, the victim hesitated to file the FIR initially due to fear of the suspects. However, she eventually approached the police, prompting prompt action and leading to the subsequent arrests in the case.

While the reasons behind the delay in reporting the incident are being investigated, police officials are diligently working to verify the victim’s background and gather substantial evidence to ensure that justice is served in this distressing and heinous case.
